Cardinal Sistach presided over a Mass at the Seminary for the repose of his soul and, on Monday morning, his funeral took place at the parish of La Bonanova.
Marcos Pou, a seminarian in the Introductory year, died last Saturday night in a motorcycle accident, when his motorbike collided with a car at the junction of Sant Màrius and Ciutat de Balaguer streets, in the Sarrià-Sant Gervasi district. The 23-year-old had until now been responsible for the university students’ section of the Communion and Liberation movement, and in that capacity had attended many meetings of the Youth Delegation. Just a week earlier he had taken the step of entering the Seminary and following the call to the priesthood. He was a young man with a great heart and full of God, with great charisma among young people and zeal for evangelisation.
All of us at Iglesia de Barcelona pray that the Lord may grant consolation, hope and strength to his loved ones at this time. We pray for his family, his friends in the movement, the seminarians and all of Marcos’s friends, who are not few. They need our prayers now more than ever.
Mass for the repose of his soul
Cardinal Sistach presided over the Mass for the repose of his soul at the Seminari Conciliar on Sunday, attended by a great number of friends and family. In his homily, the Archbishop of Barcelona wished to acknowledge the grief at the loss of the most recent of the archdiocese’s seminarians, recalling that he had said an unconditional yes to the Lord. Cardinal Sistach also gave thanks to God for the family he gave to Marcos Pou, a Christian family that passed on to him the faith and the love of God.
The funeral took place on Monday at 10 a.m. and was presided over by an uncle of the deceased, who recalled in his homily Marcos Pou’s devotion and how, from an early age, he was already clear about his vocation.
