Marcos’s story is that of a young man who received Christ’s call and knew how to listen to it.
“Ever since I was small I had a great desire to be loved, to be preferred”. It was a priest who encouraged him to put his experiences down on paper, and in the book now published, «My Story», he recounts episodes from his life and how he drew close to God.
At school he showed a great curiosity about everything around him. Through the charism of Communion and Liberation he discovered it even more closely. He grew up in a Catholic family and, as he came to know the figure of Christ better, he drew ever closer to him. He read Physics at university, and around that time he began a relationship with Rocío, a girl of his own age. It was then that Marcos felt the call to enter the seminary, and ten days after entering, he died in a road accident.
As his uncle, also a priest, Iago Gallo, tells us, his death was an event that shook all Catholics. As time has gone by, and through the testimony of those who came to bid him a last farewell, more and more details have come to light about what Marcos was like and how he treated others.
Iago tells us that «despite being young, he had a very true experience of his encounter with the Lord». «In him you can see how a vocation brings to the surface the truth and the heart of a man». Thanks to the work of his teachers and the help of his priests, he gradually found himself and grew richer, until he wrote on the last page of his book: «I am ruled by a love, by a face, by a presence, by Jesus Christ» and «it makes me glad to see how my encounter with Christ is being fulfilled; my life is an adventure, I am happy». As his uncle describes him: «A man who, with intelligence and determination, let himself be moulded».
